I learned how to fret and worry at an early age. I have reinforced those negative pathways in my brain and it has become second nature to me. Something happens, and I automatically go straight to worrying. I have to catch myself daily to stop this and choose a new response. I am choosing to trust in myself and a higher power. Getting all tied up in knots is a waste of time. So, I am dropping my old habits and losing the fret and the worry.

1. Start with a 10 minute walk in nature, jump on a trampoline, go for a bike ride, swim, workout at the gym or stretch at your desk every 90 minutes.

2. Thinking you are stuck in your life and/or your career is an illusion. There are multiple options for creating a new future. Begin by reading a new book or enrolling in a course in personal and/or professional growth.

3. Practice gratitude, optimism, and self-compassion. Choose happy thoughts and over time you can alter your brain to a new, set point of happiness. (Greater Good Science Center, 2014).

4. Engage in mind body activities like yoga and tai chi to revitalize your brain and replenish your body.

5. Release all feelings that aren’t positive and state in the positive want your mind to absorb. Then smile as big as you can and totally own it!

7. Give your brain the nutrition that it needs. Here is a partial list:
